Nostalgic eye candy for you to fondly fawn over

Remember the yesteryears of rushing home after school to catch your favourite sitcom or game show? While some of our favourite actors are still pretty active today, many of us still miss the "golden" age of the 90s in Singapore television.

2. Nick Shen

Following in the footsteps of Chew, the boyishly handsome Shen was crowned the champion of 1999’s “Star Search” and became a versatile and bilingual actor and host; he’s most notably fluent in Teochew. He has also written and performed his own songs, some of which were used for local drama theme songs.

In 2014, Shen represented Singapore in Germany to receive the Honouree Award for the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World.

Where he is now

In early-2012, he left acting and has since been working on promoting Chinese opera in Singapore with his company Tok Tok Chiang. He has created a hybrid genre that fuses western magic techniques with the traditional Chinese dance, and conducts these performances in a bilingual format, with supporting English subtitles on screens.

Jazz singer Joss Stone has even revealed that she’s been working with Shen on Chinese opera.
