Set in the early 1980s during the Cold War, The Americans charts the story of Elizabeth and Philip, two Soviet KGB officers posing as an American married couple living in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington DC with their two children and a close by neighbour who is an FBI agent working in counterintelligence. The sixth and final season set in 1987 will see the two Soviet KGB officers seek to protect their cover in the aftermath of a particularly fraught mission.
