13. Bvlgari Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of its Iconic B.zero1 with a Colosseum-inspired Pop-up Exhibition at ION Orchard

Bvlgari celebrates the 20th Anniversary of B.zero1 – its iconic jewellery design – in a bold, artistic fashion with the launch of its Colosseum-inspired pop-up exhibition at ION Orchard. The exhibition explores the connection between the beauty of architectural design and jewellery design as it immerses visitors in the evolution of B.zero1.

The experiential journey starts with the origins of B.zero1: when it launched at the start of the new millennium, it was a completely new creation. Its shape echoed the Colosseum in Rome, with a coiled internal design inspired by the industrial pipes. In the 20 years since, the magnificent Roman jeweler has sold more than 2,000,000 B.zero1 rings worldwide and collaborated with two creative powerhouses, sculptor Anish Kapoor and late architect Zaha Hadid, on special editions, establishing B.zero1 as an indomitable design icon.

In this special installation at ION Orchard, the shape of the exhibition is represented by a structure that calls to mind the enveloping circularity of the ring and echo to the Colosseum in Rome. A set of images on the wall represents the ring and the many forms it evokes. The female form becomes sculpture and architecture, expressing the fusion of shape and materials. Drawing inspiration from the cosmic origins of gold, which first appeared on Earth in a meteor shower some four billion years ago, Bvlgari has invited the artist Tomás Saraceno to create a parallel between our planet and universe. It is a choreography between our world and skies, created using constellations of complex spider webs. For Bvlgari, this sensitivity for composition and materials is an expression of intuition and creative genius.
