4. Take a stand against sexual harassment with #DontTellMeHowToDress at NomadX
From now to 21 April, take a stand against sexual harassment and violence, and victim-blaming with #DontTellMeHowToDress at NomadX in Plaza Singapura.
An initiative fronted by Thai supermodel and actress, Ms Cindy Sirinya Bishop, renowned for her role as the host of “Asia’s Next Top Model”; the exhibition started as a social media campaign and is supported by the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE) and its Aim for Zero campaign, as well as the UN Women network organisation and Beam Artistes. The exhibition seeks to question victim-blaming for gender-based violence and is proof of how sexual violence can happen to anyone regardless of how they act or dress.
On exhibit are articles of clothes worn by Singaporean survivors of sexual violence at the time of their assault. Part of the exhibition includes portraits of supporters of the cause, from celebrities to luminaries, as well as other interactive elements that tackle the theme of sexual assault and victim shaming of women in Asia.
Local celebrities who have pledged their support for the project include Eunice Olsen, Sonia Chew, Paul Foster, Sylvia Chan, Wallace Ang (Actor, Host & Singer), Christabel Chua, Becca D’Bus, and more.
The main exhibition will be held at: NomadX (Level 3, Plaza Singapura) from 28th March to 21st April. Selected exhibits will be on display at the atrium of Plaza Singapura (opposite Sephora) from 28th March to 7th April.
