5. Get a Peranakan-style family portrait for the new year
Welcome the new year by doing something unique and fun, like taking a Peranakan-themed family portrait! Part of the Peranakan Museum’s regular Straits Family Sunday programs, this activity brings the museum’s Amek Gambar (Taking Pictures) – Peranakans and Photography special exhibition to life. Don a sarong kebaya or batik shirt provided, and pose for the camera in front of a traditional Peranakan home decor. You can even create your own photo frame to display the beautiful memory. Then, check out the portraits of real Peranakan families taken in the mid-19th century at the exhibition.
