5. Colombian Exhibition at Gardens by the Bay’s Floral Fantasy
The golden poison dart frog (Phyllobates terribilis), the blue anole lizard (Anolis gorgonae), and the Chiribiquete emerald hummingbird (Chlorostilbon olivaresi) are three threatened species native to Colombia. Gardens by the Bay’s dedicated horticulturists and volunteers have skillfully reimagined them as floral sculptures, using over 6,000 preserved roses sourced from Colombia.
In collaboration with the Embassy of Colombia in Singapore, this exhibition runs until 31 December 2023, with the aim of raising awareness about the beauty of Colombia’s fauna and emphasizing the crucial need for habitat conservation. It’s a reminder of the wonders of nature that we risk losing if we don’t protect these habitats.
Gardens by the Bay’s Floral Fantasy is not only a haven for creative floral artistry and diverse garden landscapes but also home to a poison dart frog vivarium. Here, visitors can catch a glimpse of these beautifully vibrant amphibians in all their stunning hues.
