2. NOW IS NOT THE TIME: An Immersive Art Exhibition celebrating LKY100
From 10 to 24 September 2023, Now Is Not the Time offers an immersive journey that traces the life of Mr. Lee and pays tribute to his enduring legacy. This experience celebrates his role as both a national leader and a global source of inspiration. It recognizes him as a proponent of multiculturalism and a champion of technology and innovation. This remarkable exhibition utilizes the magic of virtual production, AI, generative art, architecture, sculpture, film, and music to bring Mr. Lee’s story to life.
One of the exhibition’s standout features is the contribution of New York-based contemporary artist Daniel Arsham. Arsham has created a series of artworks, including a full-body sculpture capturing a pivotal moment in Mr. Lee’s history when he declared Singapore’s separation from Malaysia. This marks the first time that Arsham, known for previous collaborations with global brands like Dior, has crafted a sculpture of a world leader.
The exhibition also proudly showcases Singapore’s creative talent, featuring works by students from LASALLE College of the Arts Film School and NYP School of Design and Media. Additionally, architectural firm Brewin Design Office and production company Refinery Media have contributed to this immersive experience. The exhibition is further enhanced by original music composed by the award-winning composer Tay Chee Wei, known for his work on EMMY-nominated documentaries like NOVA’s Ultimate Space Telescope and Decoding the Weather Machine.
