Before the doors were opened to the public on Friday (28 June), swarms of people circled Funan, eager to be one of the first to see what is inside the sleek new mall. Over the close to three-year-long renovation, the space got a whole new makeover not just in design, but also in its branding identity. We used to visit Funan to get cheap new electronics and tech gadgets, but now, it's also a place for so much more: retail shopping, working out, feasting on yummy food, enjoying the latest entertainment, and even learning more about plants. On top of all that, Funan is a great showcase of new and rising local brands. Many of the stores and amenities are also enhanced by smart features, making them worth a visit even if you have been to their other outlets.

3. COURTS Funan (#03-01 to 07)

Funan still has your IT needs covered – the Tree of Life retail pods showcase a curated selection of innovations including tech-enabled gadgets, while COURTS returns to Funan with a concept store specialising in Internet of Things (IoT) devices. It’s the consumer electronics giant’s first-ever IoT-themed store, offering the latest smart home, AI and voice-control technology from leading brands. If you’re looking to transform your home into a smart home, check out the Google and Samsung retail experience concept zones to try out products like Google Home and digital door locks. For a limited time, guests will even be greeted and assisted by GT Assiststar, an AI robot! You can purchase and bring home other versions from the homegrown brand GT Robot Technology at the store.
