A stellar cast delivers a world-class performance

Winner of over 20 major awards, the original Broadway and West End production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical Evita has finally made its Asian premiere in Singapore this February. Decades after it first opened in London in 1978, the musical continue to thrill and inspire theatre-lovers all over the world.
Here's why you should catch Evita at the MasterCard Theatres:
World class production
Apart from the strong cast, the production itself is top notch. While most musicals are not unfamiliar with static backdrops and imagery, this production features a huge projection screen running fascinating film reels and photographs from the time of Argentina’s developing dictatorship. While the musical is only loosely based on true historical facts, the nostalgic clips in all their grainy grandeur parallel the action happening on stage remarkably, with images of the troops, the people, and of course, the radiant Eva who rose to power on the arm of President Juan Peron many decades ago.
The stage setup is compelling in itself, and includes a revolving door for when Eva goes through several relationships with increasingly influential men in the cheeky number “Goodnight and Thank You”. The public gather with burning fire torches when they rally for “A New Argentina”, and how can we forget the elevated balcony of the Presidential Palace from which Kingston belts out the Evita classic “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”.
Evita will play at the MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore until March 18, before travelling to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Tokyo.
