The world of designer toys and contemporary art is converging as the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Showcase celebrates its international launch at the National Museum of Singapore.
Running from 12 December 2025 to 22 February 2026, this major exhibition transcends a simple display of collectibles. It offers an engaging, thought-provoking exploration into complex human experiences, marking a significant blend of pop culture and institutional heritage. The event is a unique collaboration presented by POP MART, the Singapore Tourism Board, and the National Museum of Singapore.

At the heart of the showcase is the enigmatic traveller, SKULLPANDA, a character conceived in 2018 by Chinese multidisciplinary artist Xiong Miao. The artist designed SKULLPANDA to embody a personal philosophy—a spirit that embraces life’s inherent uncertainties and lingering questions. Moving beyond its origins in the designer collectible scene, the character transforms into a vessel for meaningful reflection within this immersive setting.

Visitors are guided through visually striking environments featuring towering sculptures and symbolic objects. These installations invite contemplation on six universal aspects of daily existence: Emotion, Fortune, Rules, Exploration, Life, and Direction. Ordinary items are repurposed as metaphors to explore the boundaries of choice, personal freedom, and perceived confinement.

This collaboration is particularly noteworthy for its focus on connecting contemporary art with local identity. Exclusive to the Singapore stop is an installation that draws inspiration from a beloved local pastime: birdwatching. This inclusion links SKULLPANDA’s themes of voice and community to a cherished aspect of Singaporean heritage.

The showcase is accessible daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ticketed components are located in the Stamford Gallery and Gallery Theatre, with admission fees varying from S$14 to S$40. Furthermore, the museum provides free-to-access art installations on the Front Lawn and other Level 1 spaces, ensuring broad public engagement with this global cultural movement.
National Museum of Singapore is located at 93 Stamford Rd, Singapore 178897.
