2. Neo Tiew Estates

In the day, the Neo Tiew Estates along Neo Tiew Road look like a nondescript and harmless abandoned block, which have often been visited by nostalgia-seeking Singaporeans. However, it has a haunting story behind it.

Legend has it that the King of the Banana Trees was once planted here. One day, a man prayed to the tree in hopes of winning the lottery, and threatened the King by sticking seven needles in the tree. When the man indeed struck gold, he ran off with the cash, forgetting to remove the pins.

The banana tree died but the spirit of the King lingered here, continuing to haunt the area today. Nearby Lim Chu Kang estate residents also claim to have seen pontianak (known to take residence in banana trees) appearing outside their windows.
