Selfish Gene gets generous

Now, you don’t have any excuse to be selfish with your food at Selfish Gene Cafe

With Chef Gene Mok’s philosophy of “not serving anyone food that he would not eat himself”, you can be sure to get your money’s worth of their drool-worthy dishes.

Now, Selfish Gene Café introduces a new menu to entice the palettes of a larger crowd.

Homemade Yoghurt Goodness

Chef Gene makes many of his ingredients from scratch for the dishes that he serves at the café, including yoghurt and ricotta cheese.

New additions to the Weekday Breakfast Menu include the Homemade Yoghurt ($6) with summer berry compote and granola.

The yoghurt, served in a little jar, is pleasing to the taste buds as well as to the eyes. It’s also an ideal item for breakfast-on-the-go for the executives working in Tanjong Pagar area.

The sweet and savoury waffles also contain Chef Gene’s homemade yoghurt, in place of the commonly-used buttermilk. The Orange Yoghurt Cake ($4) with orange glaze and candied orange peel had a refreshing and tangy touch.

The pastry served at Selfish Gene Café is made with all-natural ingredients, with no emulsifiers or sponge gels. Even the yoghurt in the cake is homemade!

Personally, I never knew that something with a manufacturing process as complicated as yoghurt could be homemade.

Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice

With something for everyone, Selfish Gene Café is sure to appease whatever expectations you have of a perfect breakfast or lunch out. The Café continues to woo guests with its cosy, convivial vibes and fresh, simple food done well.
