For a limited time only, try a carte blanche menu full of surprises, paired with refreshing whisky cocktails
Olivia Cassivelaun Fancourt, or OCF, is a restaurant named after the wife of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles. Weekender featured the restaurant in the Sep 27 issue.
So what has this got to do with an American?
Carte Blanche Full of Delights
‘Raffles’ wife’ invites you into her kitchen where you will feast on seven mystery French dishes, only to be revealed as soon as they are served.
The delightful seven-course carte blanche dinner is sure to please every guest with a range of flavours and types of food that is accentuated with a special cocktail pairing.
A Unique Pairing
These cocktails by Head Mixologist David Koh of sister brand Bar Stories are concocted from the Auchentoshan American Oak whisky.
Smooth, delicate-tasting and characterised by vanilla notes, the Auchentoshan American Oak is a versatile single malt Scotch whisky, which lends an intriguing complexity to the enjoyment of French cuisine.
The pairing, by David Koh and Executive Chef Jonathan Koh from OCF, has created a cocktail pairing menu like no other.
The Whisky Cocktails
The seven-course carte blanche menu first commences with Le Gingembre, comprising ginger and cloves to give a refreshing tartness that opens up the palate, much like a liquid amuse bouche.
These ingredients also contrast the heavier vanilla notes in the Auchentoshan American Oak, providing good accompaniment with any vegetable dish that is usually presented in the first half of the seven courses.
The fruity taste of raspberries and alluring notes of saffron and lemongrass in Les Framboise et Safran, on the other hand, complement the layers of zesty citrus fruits in the Auchentoshan American Oak, providing seamless transition from savoury to sweet.
Festive Menus & Pairing
The seven-course bespoke dining experience is available daily at only $78++ per person.
Apart from the carte blanche menu, OCF also has festive menus from Dec 16, 2013, to Jan 3, 2014. Please call to find out more about the different menus.
To spread the festive cheer, Auchentoshan American Oak has cocktail surprises available for guests on Christmas day and beyond.
Made from flavours that are reminiscent of Christmas, Apples and Cinnamon highlights the vanilla flavours of the American Oak while the Gingerbread Man brings out the hint of spice from the Scotch.
These cocktails will be available until Jan 17, 2014, with an additional $28++ for the two pairing cocktails. You can also cosy up to Apples and Cinnamon or the Gingerbread Man during OCF’s Christmas Brunch on Dec 25, from 11am to 3pm.
The cocktails can also be served a la carte at $18++ each.
