Doing our own cooking at a restaurant? It’s a world gone mad! Or is it? We check out the do-it-yourself concept behind Gavroche
Tucked deep in Tras Street, Cafe Gavroche’s cozy and Parisian outlook caught our attention. Looking nothing short like a Friday lounge from Chamonix, we stepped in and discovered their interesting cooking concept. It happens to be their bestselling menu so far!
Read on for our Cafe Gavroche review:
Introducing their dinner
Upon being seated, we saw a quaint Tefal Raclette on every table. We were having no authentic French dinners by Paris chefs – we were having French dinners prepared with a local flavor! By that, I mean me and my clumsy hands with even the most basic cooking. We were given a side of quail eggs, cheese, a meat spread and a pot of soft potatoes.
Masterchef France in the making
I am a terribly boring cook. My dining partner was happily designing his food, stacking meat upon cheese and skilfully spreading the quail eggs along the side of the mini pan. I was cluelessly slicing my potatoes and wrapping them in cheese and ham. The end product turned out pretty tasty! More credit to the yummy of the actual ingredient than my haphazard cooking techniques.
A yummy treat indeed
In the end, we were left with a assortment of servings, from cheese-melted omelettes to pork-wrapped potato bites. Each of the ingredients tasted good as individual components and fantastic when put together. I particularly liked the cheese. It melts beautifully onto any ingirednt mix we could think of, elevating the dish to restaurant standards.
I would be back for more!
