Trying to avoid the Orchard traffic, I went into Scotts Square and found the snugly tucked-in Arossa – hurrah!

The new hotspot is the latest culinary experience in the heart of Orchard Road at Scotts Square; an authentic classy ambience surrounds the store transporting diners to indulge their food in a warm and relaxed settings. I personally fell in love first with the view then with the food.

Everybody loves crispy

The starter Fritto Di Calamari is a classic favourite. It went very well with the spicy tomato aioli sauce. The crispiness provided a nice crunch and the sauce made it light and tangy. In part due to its small size, I could keep popping more!

How quirky to have beef in wine, as seen here in their Piedmont Style Beef Cheek Braised in Red Wine

A touch of class

The beef is their heavyweight and it is easy to tell why. The tender beef is succulent and juicy to the last bite. Most beef are tough to cut but this one slid off my knife easily and gracefully. By itself it was pretty good and paired with the mashed potatoes, it was exquisite.

In fact, this is probably the first time I’m going to say that I enjoyed the mashed potatoes, a side of the main dish, more than the main dish itself! Perhaps it was because of the red wine hints in the mashed potatoes but it was a very good call.

Their tiramisu fell a little short of expectations

Sweet treats for the sweet tooth

Their tiramisu was a miss for me. It was pretty moist and it fell easily when I tried a spoonful of it. Perhaps there is a crowd out there who prefers their tiramisu fluffy but it did not sit well for me. The base of the tiramisu has nuts and it added a richer taste to the average tiramisu so that was a thumbs up.

All in all, we would recommend this place for their starters and main courses.
