The Anti:dote to my afternoon tea woes

I have to be honest; I have never had any afternoon tea quite like Anti:dote’s. Cue Instagram-perfect photos and sweet bites

I am an afternoon tea person. I love whiling away my afternoons with sweet treats and cups of tea. But so far, all the cafes I tried have failed my mark spectacularly. None of them stand out, nor do they keep me coming back. I had almost given up until I found Anti:dote.

This dubious truffle egg is actually delightfully savoury, perfect with the toasted bread

Nothing like the usuals

As with any brunch, eggs are the star of the meal. I have had so many eggs benedicts and poached eggs that they all taste the same to me now. So imagine my delight when I saw this strange little thing. Inside their truffle egg is a delightfully savory concoction. It complemented the bread perfectly, with the truffle adding a tinge of bitterness to the dish.

Have you seen anything as quaint as this?

Drawing food from drawers

All of us at the table started whipping out our phones when this exquisite jewelry box came. I cannot stress how important presentation is; how else do you build up or make up for your treats? The first tier would be jams for the scones in the second tier. The third tier would be the savory one-bites, while the final one is their spread of sugary goodness.

The ginger scones were pretty eyebrow-raising for me because the ginger only comes as an aftertaste. The raisin scones were a classic, it paired well with the jams offered. The pound cake was fused with hints of basil, a tingy twist to the usual.

The best for last

We had the third tier, which were mainly mini bites. The smoked salmon sandwich is my favourite, it was done to perfection with a small dash of wasabi. The lobster roll was very tasty and flavourful. The curried chicken tasted absolutely local, bring homeliness into this atas afternoon tea.

We left the sweetest treats for last. I tried their array of chocolates but they were mostly too rich for me. There was a chocolate passion-fruit jelly tart that I liked particularly because the passion-fruit added a burst of sour against the luxurious chocolate. The earl grey eclair was a fresh treat too, I have never had anything similar and this was surprisingly delectable.
