A moody glow emanates from binchotan embers as precision meets fire at Sapōto, Tanjong Pagar’s newest yakitori omakase concept.

Helmed by the former head chef of Shirokane Tori – Tama and backed by the visionary minds behind Sushi Yujo and SHINRAI, Sapōto delivers a rare combination of refined omakase craftsmanship, exceptional ingredients, and surprisingly accessible prices.
Sapōto—meaning “support” in Japanese—continues a thematic trilogy of friendship (Yujo), trust (Shinrai), and now, support—each a pillar of meaningful relationships and culinary storytelling. Here, the art of traditional omakase meets the primal allure of open-flame yakitori, with menus starting from just S$48, making premium Japanese dining more approachable than ever.
At the heart of Sapōto is a commitment to quality. Every skewer is grilled over authentic binchotan charcoal, featuring the freshest seasonal ingredients and premium cuts like chutoro, Wagyu, and King Crab.
And here’s a little sneak peek—beyond the premium ingredients and delicious flavors, the way each dish is presented is sure to surprise and delight you too!
Chef Shyong, a seasoned yakitori master, and Chef Desmond Fong, with over 20 years in fine Japanese cuisine, bring together expertise and passion to curate a deeply satisfying experience.
For lunch, diners can enjoy the Ai (S$48++) or SHINRAI (S$98++) menus, both including appetizer and dessert. Highlights include carefully selected chicken cuts, seasonal vegetables, and a comforting bowl of ramen, while the SHINRAI menu adds luxurious touches like truffle chawanmushi and chutoro carpaccio.
Dinner elevates the experience even further with three tiers: SHINRAI (S$98++), Sapōto (S$148++), and Yujo (S$198++)—featuring indulgent dishes like uni truffle brioche, fresh sashimi, grilled pork jowl, and a grand finale of Wagyu kushi and grilled King Crab.
Exclusively for omakase guests, Sapōto’s à la carte menu offers a playful yet elegant range of yakitori selections, from adventurous cuts like windpipe and aorta to luxurious options like foie gras and Wagyu. It also features hearty signatures like Sapōto Ramen (S$19.80++) and Uni Truffle Brioche (S$39.80++).
Designed with a balance of Japanese minimalism and quiet drama, Sapōto’s space features dark woods, brass accents, and the theatrical glow of an open grill, creating an atmosphere where tradition and innovation coexist seamlessly.
Sapōto is a welcome, wallet-friendly addition to Tanjong Pagar’s vibrant dining scene. It offers a high-end omakase experience that remains warm, accessible, and full of delightful surprises.
Sapōto is located at 165 Tanjong Pagar Road, Amara Hotel #02-26, Singapore 088539.
