Some restaurants feed you; others sweep you into an experience. GUPSHUP is most definitely the latter.

Hidden in the basement of The Serangoon House in Little India, this glamorous hideaway feels like stepping into another world. The lift doors open to jewel-toned interiors, hand-painted colonial murals, and a warm golden glow that flatters both faces and plates. Every corner is thoughtfully styled — a setting designed not just for dining, but for delight.

The attention to design extends beyond the dining room. Even the women’s restroom is a statement piece: pink crystal accents, extravagant gold swan faucets, and a playful, almost Barbie-dreamhouse charm. It’s so striking that Gucci used this space for a photoshoot.

True to its name — “gupshup” means “chit-chat” in Hindi — the restaurant is built for connection. The vibe is intimate yet cosmopolitan, perfect for date nights, celebrations, or simply lingering over a long meal. At the helm is Chef Jolly, a former MasterChef India judge whose reputation for bold flavors and modern sensibilities precedes him. His menu is firmly rooted in India’s culinary heritage while fearlessly contemporary in execution.

The culinary journey begins with playful small plates, like feather-light Pani Poori filled with Spiced Potato and Mint Water Shots. Comfort food is elevated in dishes like Chicken Chettinad served with Flaky Parotta, while the Amritsari Chole with Pillowy Kulcha is a standout signature. The Fiery, Crisp Chicken 65 is a crowd favorite, unapologetically bold in flavor. Dessert is a spectacle in itself: the kulfi falooda arrives layered with cardamom ice cream, vermicelli, basil seeds, and rose — a jewel-like finale to the feast.

From 1 September to 15 October 2025, GUPSHUP invites diners to indulge in two special menus:
– The Great Indian Feast (S$59++ for two) — a 90-minute culinary odyssey of 13 dishes, from smoky kebabs to festive chaats, perfect for sharing and celebrating.
– The “Dabbawala” Tiffin Menu (S$23++ for two) — a polished take on Mumbai’s iconic lunchbox tradition, featuring hearty mains, comforting sides, and homestyle desserts.
More than just a restaurant, GUPSHUP is a destination where design and gastronomy meet in perfect harmony. Striking interiors, vibrant flavors, and a sense of theatricality make every visit not just memorable, but irresistibly photogenic.
GUPSHUP is located at Basement 1, The Serangoon House (Tribute Portfolio Hotel), 301 Serangoon Rd, Singapore 218224.
