Skiving may not be such a bad thing at times, especially if you are at Skyve Wine Bistro

Off the corner of Newton Circus is Skyve Wine Bistro, tucked away on Winstedt Road. Unwind here after a tough day, in the cool and lush surroundings of the restaurant. Or, bring the family for brunch this weekend.
Their newly-revamped menu features a myriad cuisine influences from Executive Chef Jachin Tan’s stint in California, resulting in bistro food with touches of Asian flavours. It is definitely not the usual bistro.
Satisfying Skyve
We loved the array of oysters at Skyve. For the traditionalist, you’ll enjoy the Au Naturel with Lemon Juice ($28 for six) but if you’re more adventurous, do go for the Mentaiyaki oysters – with metaiko, ebiko, lemon juice and aioli ($34 for six).
Also try the Petuna and Ume Somen, a tart dish of cold noodles and pan-seared Petuna, for a refreshing starter.
The Skyve Beef Tartare ($22) is also fragrant with a truffle egg on the top. Yummy!
Rich Mains
For the mains, the Polenta Mushroom Stack ($34) is a dish of crispy polenta cakes, mushroom fricassee, grilled Portobello, seasonal vegetables and homemade pesto.
The Spicy Kalbi Beef Short Ribs ($36) – sous-vide short ribs glazed with a Korean-inspired marinade, sautéed brocollini, and crispy root vegetable ribbons – is piquant and tender, and thoroughly satisfying.
TEMPTING Dessert
Their Mango and Cheese Semifreddo ($12) is a pretty sight to behold with frozen lime foam, rippled frozen mousse as well as sable cookies.
Their Tiramisu ($12) is also worth a try.
