Seen and heard of the best of local Singaporean Food
Toasted bread with butter and kaya jam, together with some soft-boiled eggs, is a popular breakfast choice for many Singaporeans. Most locals have had that at one point.
With kaya toast and soft-boiled eggs being our version of a hearty breakfast, here are some places where you can get them for breakfast, or as a timely snack.
Ya Kun Kaya Toast
This well-known chain is known for their brown, thin toast with a thick slab of butter and pandan kaya. The original outlet at Far East Square is the best, in our opinion.
Far East Square, 18 China Street, #01-01, Singapore 049560
Killiney Kopitiam
One of the oldest and most renowned coffee shops around, the shop’s name was once known as Qiong Xin He. It has been in business since 1919 and it is now also a chain. The coffee and toast are good here.

Good Morning Nanyang Café
This shop not only has the standard toasts, it also has scones and orange ciabatta! Try it. The coffee here is also known to be good.
Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green Community Centre, 20 Pickering Street, Singapore 058284
Chin Mee Chin Confectionary
This is one of the most famous names as far as coffeeshops go. Everything is homemade in this stall. They make their own buns and scones and the buns contain a thick slab of butter. It is also famous for its hot cross buns, touted to be the best in Singapore, which sell like hot cakes just before Easter.
