9 Things We Love About Singapore’s First Hello Kitty Cafe

A themed cafe with photogenic interiors and tasty food

By Samantha Francis

Singapore is finally getting her own Hello Kitty cafe in the form of Hello Kitty Orchid Garden and we're floored by how beautiful it is. First of all, we're pleased to report that the cafe isn't drenched in shades of pink or replete with kitschy Hello Kitty figurines at every turn.

Taking inspiration from Singapore's reputation as a blooming Garden City, the cafe features lush greenery and hanging rows of orchid flowers. The monochrome and colonial style interior comes with subtle and elegant touches of Kitty mania — bow imprints on wooden chairs, life sized kitties at dedicated photo corners and more.

To put it simply, this is a cafe we're proud to show visiting tourists — considering it's situated at Changi Airport.

Helmed by the same guys behind Swensen’s, you can be sure Hello Kitty Orchid Garden doesn’t fall into the trap of serving adorable food that unfortunately tastes terrible. Case in point: This light and spongy Chocolate Caramelised Orange Tea Cake with a subtle orange fragrance, which contrasts nicely with its crunchy chocolate shell.
