From Nov 13 to 30, Ikyu brings in new seasonal delights for a taste trip fit for a gourmand
Japanese restaurant Ikyu gathers up the best from 15 prefectures in Japan into a concise and perfectly-paired eight-course “Gourmet Traveller” menu.
Chef Takuma Seki of Ikyu says, “I want to give diners a peak experience and I will pick products that are not only the best in each prefecture – but the best in Japan.”
Travel to Japan in a Meal
The Gourmet Traveller ($188++, $98++ for beverage pairing) starts off with a Zenzai – a three-part appetiser comprising Hokkaido cod fish sperm, Ibaraki monk fish liver and Fukuoka marinated cod roe.
Next, travel to a light and pristine fresh sashimi plate with Kagoshima tuna, Chiba five ray yellow tail with freshly-grated Shizouka wasabi and Okinawa sea grapes.
The next course features a steamed Fukui live Echizen snow crab and then a Yakimono of Miyazaki champion beef served with yuzu ponzu or Kagoshima kurobuta pork with Kyoto seasonal vegetables.
More Intriguing Tastes
You can then move along to a dish of Agemono – a panko crusted deep-fried oyster. Rest your taste buds with a palate cleansing dish of Aomori apples before the main meal of Kaisen Chirashi Don with white shrimps, sea urchin, scallops, Kagoshima tuna and a bowl of hot somen.
Finally, an ice cream dessert made from Niigata rice rounds off the meal. Take a gourmet trip to Japan, here in Singapore, with Ikyu from Nov 13 to 30.
