Savour dishes by renowned Italian chefs at this Renaissance-themed pop-up restaurant

It’s all Gucci, and we mean that both ways, because the Gucci Osteria restaurant will be launching a Singapore edition from 1 to 26 May! Singapore’s The Art House will be hosting the concept restaurant’s first-ever venture outside its Gucci Garden home in Florence, Italy.
In early 2018, luxury fashion brand Gucci did not just dip its toes in the culinary scene; it made a big splash by teaming up with superstar chef Massimo Bottura, of the famed three-Michelin-starred restaurant Osteria Francescana, to open Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura. Located inside the museum-retail concept store Gucci Garden, Gucci Osteria is a classy museum restaurant.
Here’s a peek inside the glamorous restaurant in Florence:
Lucky for us, we don’t have to travel all the way to Italy to indulge in Bottura’s exciting creations amidst elegant Gucci-inspired decor. The Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura Singapore Edition seeks to recreate the same luxurious and culturally rich ambiance, starting with the setting. The Arts House’s strong and enduring connection to our local arts and culture makes it the perfect choice to host this one-of-a-kind affair that blends cuisine and culture.
The 60-seat pop-up restaurant in The Arts House will ooze with the eccentric glamour of Gucci, from garden-themed Gucci Herbarium crockery used to serve the food to the signature red Gucci Herbarium motif dotting the walls. Very Insta-worthy, for sure. Immersed in this contemporary Renaissance atmosphere, diners will be treated to a variety of classic Italian dishes made with a fusion twist befitting of the restaurant’s international debut.
The Singapore pop-up will serve both lunch and dinner over its limited run. Diners can choose between four-course lunch from Wednesday to Friday ($128++), a seven-course lunch on weekends ($228++), or a seven-course dinner ($278++) from Tuesday to Sunday, all six days of the restaurant’s operation. The menu is jointly created by Chef Bottura and Chef Karime Lopez, the head chef of Gucci Osteria who also helms the Singapore edition.
So, what can you expect from the menu? One of the highlights is a signature dish of Bottura’s – The Crunchy Part of the Lasagne. It showcases Bottura’s favourite part of the Italian pasta, the crunchy layer on the top. Another traditional Italian offering on the menu is the Holy Cannoli, a lighter version of the pastry wrapped in cucumber, fennel and green apple.
Things get closer to home with the Taka Bun, a Japanese-inspired sweet-sour pork belly sandwich held together by steamed mantou buns. Mm, Asian food still owns our heart, so this is definitely the dish we’re most looking forward to try. And as if we needed more reason to get excited about dessert, the highlighted dessert has the even more familiar flavour of kaya. The Charley Marley, created with Bottura’s chocolate-loving son Charlie in mind, is an indulgent cake-sandwich layered with dark chocolate and kaya cream. It’s one of the most popular dishes at the Gucci Osteria in Florence, and we don’t doubt why!
