1. The Spot
For grub that hits the spot, head down to The Spot at the futuristic citadel of One Marina. Opened as early as 730am to curb early morning hunger pangs and coffee cravings, the outlet presents a storied menu of contemporary European cuisine, christened by various Southeast Asian sauces. Some delectable instances are the Grilled Octopus ($25) bathed in a peanut and red miso emulsion, the chrysanthemum flower and honey glazed-Local Duck Breast ($28) served luxuriating in plum ginger vinegar jus, and the Pork Cheek ‘BBQ’ ($26) that is marinated in a familiar Asian rub of soy, dark soy, fish and oyster sauces, before grilled and presented alongside a blob of caramel vinegar. Do note that The Spot is not just a standalone restaurant, but instead it exists as a multi-concept destination that comes with wine retail space by 1855 The Bottle Shop, and whisky specialty store The Macallan Boutique @1855, featuring the spirit’s core range of bottlings that you can taste off the included bar or in its exclusive cigar room.
