Here’s the Raclette Night you didn’t know you needed

The wheel of raclette being melted.
Leave your Monday blues at the door, when you head to Le Bistrot du Sommelier’s Rilette Bar.
The restaurant and bar has relaunched its Raclette Night as an ode to its French roots. Every Monday evening, diners will get to enjoy free flow raclette cheese alongside homemade charcuteries by Chef Brandon Foo for just $38++ per person.
For the uninitiated, raclette is a semi-firm cow’s milk cheese typically fashioned into a wheel. When served in the Swiss/French dish of its namesake, the wheel is halved and heated till its melty.
At Le Bistrot du Sommelier’s Rilette Bar, the melty, oozy raclette is served in a bowl — all the better for you to dip your charcuterie in. Once you’re done with a serving (trust us, it’ll be faster than you think), simply raise your hand for more.
Home made charcuteries to go with the raclette cheese.
Be spoilt for choice with charcuteries like Home Smoked Korubuta Ham ($12), Duck Rilette ($10.80), steamed potatoes and more. Their salty and rich flavours stand up nicely to the flavourful raclette cheese.
The raclette cheese itself has a distinct nutty and aromatic flavour, much like a Gruyere-type cheese. Don’t be surprised to find orange bits in your bowl; what looks like orange peel is just the edible rind of the cheese.
For the complete experience, you can complement your meal with the Tour des Gendres “Cuvée de Conti” Bergerac Sec Blanc 2014 ($68 per bottle), a bordeaux-style white wine. Its full-bodied and rounded notes pair beautifully with the richness of the cheese.
The Raclette Night is available every Monday evening from 6pm onwards. Diners will get to enjoy free flow raclette cheese alongside homemade charcuteries by Chef Brandon Foo for just $38++ per person.
