Brunch by the sand and the sea? Yes, please!

Weekends are for relaxing, unwinding from a week’s worth of work – preferably by catching up on some sleep. But of course, if you want to indulge a little (and really, who wouldn’t?), there’s always brunch to look forward to! And at Coastes Singapore, located along the picturesque Siloso Beach coastline, you can enjoy a leisurely brunch while taking in the idyllic coastal view and basking in the sea breeze.

Coastes elevates the beach dining experience with their newly-curated à la carte brunch menu that comes with an option for free-flow Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut, red and white wines at an additional $45++, making it a great go-to brunch place to relax and catch-up with your friends and loved ones!

One of Coastes’ signature brunch items would be the Coastes Breakfast (S$23), their own take
on the iconic English breakfast. The platter comprises scrambled eggs, grilled thick-cut bacon, snail sausage, forest mushrooms, fresh kale and toasted sourdough bread; served with a choice of coffee or tea. The scrambled eggs were of a wonderful consistency and texture: creamy, soft and rich without being watery or bland. They paired well with the bacon (indeed, thickly cut! Delish!) on the fragrant sourdough slices, and would make for a hearty, filling meal. If anything, skip the sausage – we found the texture to be a tad mushy and bland, its taste paling in comparison to the bacon.

Another of our favourites was the Bacon Kale Fritata (S$16): an Italian-style baked omelette filled with bacon, kale, ricotta cheese, and topped with sun-dried tomatoes. For those who are looking to cut down on carbs, fritata are high in protein, low in carbs, and filling at the same time. Of course, the fritata here at Coastes are delicious, to boot: generous with ingredients and not overly salty, with its edges nicely crisp and browned. We loved how the ricotta made the fritata richer in taste, yet not overpowering!

For those who have a sweet tooth, do try the French Toast (S$16)! What sets apart Coastes’ French toast from that of other restaurants and cafes is that the former is served with thick-cut bacon, maple butter and fruit jam, both made in-house. Even if you don’t usually butter your French toast or spread it with syrup and/or jam, we urge you to give the maple butter at Coastes a try! It was the perfect balance of sweet and savoury, with the rich creaminess of good butter, and aroma of maple, leaving us wanting more even after we had finished our French toast!

Bagels and lox, or smoked salmon, are an iconic breakfast food from New York City – but there’s no need to rush around like a stereotypical New Yorker, when you can munch away at Coastes’ Fresh Bagel with Smoked Salmon (S$16) while kicking back and relaxing!  Served with chive cream cheese spread, thinly-sliced cucumbers and onions, and tangy capers, this would make for a delicious yet nutritious light bite.

Of course, what brunch would be complete without yogurt and granola? The Homemade Maple Walnut Granola with Greek Yoghurt & Fresh Berries (S$12) would be a great option for those looking for something light and healthy, or would like a more fruity dessert to cap off their brunch. The maple granola was deliciously aromatic and paired well with the rich tanginess of the Greek yogurt, while the berries were naturally sweet. Those who prefer the fruits sans yogurt can opt for Fresh Fruits & Berries ($10) instead!

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again: there’s always room for dessert!

Although not on the breakfast menu itself, there’s no stopping you from ordering dessert at Coastes if you so wish to, as all other items are available after 11AM! The Salted Caramel Brownie (S$14), served with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream, is a generous serving – but we’re not judging if you choose to finish it on your own! We were tempted to, ourselves – the brownie was not too dense, deliciously fudge-y, richly chocolatey without being overly sweet, and paired well with the ice-cream.

Being a few minutes’ walk away from Beach Station on the Sentosa Express, as well as a stone’s throw away from Siloso Beach itself, Coastes is the perfect place for a leisurely brunch getaway, any day of the week.
