Savour these beautiful mooncakes

This season, Hai Tien Lo at Pan Pacific Singapore features a range of beautiful traditional and snowskin mooncakes

Mid-Autumn is upon us and Hai Tien Lo’s Executive Chef Lai Tong Ping and his capable team present an assortment of petite snowskin mooncakes as well as traditional delights.

Novel Flavours

Hai Tien Lo’s new flavours this year include White Coffee with Red Bean Paste, Golden Corn Seaweed, Guihua (Osmanthus) Seaweed, and Oolong and Chrysanthemum Paste ($58 for eight).

“Red bean paste has been a common filling used in other savoury pastries and I wanted to experiment with incorporating this flavour into a mooncake and pairing it with the rich aroma of white coffee,” says Chef Lai.

He adds, “Combining the earthy taste of oolong and the floral tastes of chrysanthemum was a natural choice, while the umami taste of seaweed complements the subtle sweetness of both the osmanthus and corn.”

Durian lovers will be thrilled by Hai Tien Lo’s signature Durian Flavour Snowskin ($62 for eight).

Traditional Bites

Traditionalists will enjoy their baked White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncakes, Single or Double Yolk ($56-$60) as well as the new White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake with Macadamia Nuts ($54).

Presented in a multi-layered red box with traditional Chinese motifs in black, elegantly secured with red tassels, the mooncakes are also perfect as gifts for business associates and relatives.

The mooncakes will be available at Hai Tien Lo (Level 3) and Pacific Marketplace (Level 1) from Aug 19 to Sep 19, 11am to 10pm. All prices subject to GST & service charge.
