6. Spring rolls for a new start
First eaten on the fourth day of February in Eastern Jin Dynasty (317 – 420), spring rolls acquired their name as they are traditionally enjoyed during the spring festivities. The popular dim sum item consists of crispy, cylindrical dough wrappers filled with vegetables and meat. Once fried, they attain a very auspicious shade of golden-brown. They’re said to welcome the new spring and celebrate new beginnings.
