1. Sea moss for wealth
What looks like a clump of jet-black hair in the treasure pot (also known as pen cai) dish is simply sea moss, commonly served with braised oysters and other delicacies. Black moss translates to ‘fat choi’ in Cantonese, which means to become wealthy or to attain fortune.
