These days, you'll be hard pressed to find a comforting bowl of ramen for under $10, but what's a hungry foodie to do when the chilly weather comes around?

3. Takagi Ramen
Situated in one of my favourite heartland haunts, Takagi Ramen offers value-for-money ramen. Go for the Black Tonkotsu Ramen ($6.50), which comes with refillable (for one time only) noodles, served with char siew. The rich, black broth was aromatic and flavourful but could be a little thicker. Fried gyoza can be added on for $3.
