Unwind and relax at this colourful lifestyle hotel, which boasts two sophisticated dining concepts

The millennial traveller is digitally savvy, well heeled and always ready to pounce on the next big adventure — food, fashion or otherwise.
Which is why the new Hotel G ticks all the right boxes when it comes to charming us with its trendy communal spaces, digital convenience and Instagrammable decor.
Our weekend staycation at the new lifestyle hotel kicked off with a detailed confirmation e-letter that resembled a flight booking, thrilling us with the friendly reminder ‘Now pack your bags’.
Inspired by the arts
Located at the heart of Bugis, also Singapore’s unofficial arts district, the hotel is home to two dining establishments at the ground floor, with the reception on the second.
The check-in counter was set against a mural seemingly inspired by Belgian surrealist painter Rene Magritte’s iconic The Son of Man, alongside quirky art pieces featuring hats and silhouettes of a man. A retail section, set across a feature wall of greenery, sold Hotel G branded goods — from bathrobes to towels.
These funky graphic elements were only a teaser of what the rooms offered.
I stayed in the Great King Room, one of the three room types available, and it was far cosier than I’d expected it to be.
What more than made up for its slight lack in space, was its beautiful décor. A dazzling dream catcher centrepiece drew my eye up to the ceiling, and down the wall where framed black and white photos curated by photo studio YellowKorner were displayed.
Made for the Millennial
Meant to satisfy the needs of the millennial traveller, each room is also outfitted with complimentary high speed Wi-Fi and 32’’ flat screen IPTV systems equipped with mirroring options that allow guests to beam anything from their smart devices to the TV.
Tourists will also be pleased to know that the hotel provides dedicated smartphones that come with complimentary local and international calls, allowing for a tech-enabled lifestyle no matter where their travels take them in Singapore.
As for myself, I found solace at the hotel’s 24/7 gym, which features a vintage-style set-up juxtaposed by state-of-the-art equipment including treadmills with onscreen entertainment and boxing equipment.
Double the feast
As night, my friends came over and we dined at the 25 Degrees Burgers & Liquor Bar on the ground floor. The burger joint, originally from Los Angeles at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, satisfied our cravings with the mouth-watering Number One burger.
It came with fluffy brioche buns sandwiching a hunky 200g USA Angus beef, creamy crescenza, gorgonzola and strips of smoky bacon — truly a treat.
We spent the rest of the evening laughing over board games and card games including the notoriously cheeky Cards Against Humanity.
When the time came to enjoy some tipple, we received impeccable service from the bartenders of the hotel’s Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar, who were glad to help chill our bottles of champagne and wines.
After a restful night, we woke up to early lunch at Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar, where we tucked into a brunch feast of poached eggs and cheese boards.
It was the perfect ending to a staycation that’d left me delighted with its service and decor, and most of all, the dining options.
