There are a few places on Earth that are awe-inspiring and truly sights to behold – these are places you should see at least once in your lifetime
We may get sick of seeing the same sights every day in our daily life, and that may make us forget that there are some sights in this world that are truly breathtaking.
Here are a few places that you should see at least once in a lifetime. Chances are, you’ll want to return.
1. Salar De Uyuni, Bolivia
Far away in southwest Bolivia lies the world’s biggest salt flat, Salar De Uyuni. The Salar was formed due to the transformation of several prehistoric lakes.
The Salar is covered by metres of salt crust, which results in a striking flatness. When it rains, it leaves a layer of water that reflects the sky above, creating a beautiful illusion of a never-ending sky.
2. Antelope Canyon, USA
The colourful layered walls of Antelope Canyon are located on native American (Navajo) land in Arizona. There are several sections of the canyon and most require a guide.
If you’re the outdoorsy type, there are some parts of the canyon where you can go camping or hiking, with the required permit, especially if you want to visit the East Waterholes and the Rainbow Bridge Trail. You’ll be privy to spectacular creations and colours of nature.
3. Lake Baikal, Russia
This rift lake in the Russian area of Siberia looks like it could house the Tesseract from the Captain America movies. In winter, the lake glows a bright blue and it is rich in freshwater fauna due to its isolation.
Fly to the city of Irkutsk and make your way to the town of Severobaikalsk, which is on the Northern shores of the lake. Be ready to gasp in awe.
4. Pamukkale Hot Springs, Turkey
This stunning Turkish pool essentially means “cotton castle”, and for good reason. The calcium carbonate shelves create the illusion of cottony white steps which house naturally-heated milky blue hot springs.
What are you waiting for? Pack your swimsuit and head there now!
5. Navagio Beach, Greece
Also known as “The Shipwreck”, Navagio Beach is located on the sandy cove of Zakynthos Island in Greece, and it is defined by its limestone cliffs, white sand beaches and clear blue waters.
It also has its very own shipwreck on its shores, which is believed to be a smugglers’ ship. The beach is accessible only by boat but – look at it – it’s worth the boat ride, is it not?
