The South Korean drama, Squid Game may just be the most popular Netflix show of the year.
The show stars some of South Korea’s biggest actors, including Park Hae-soo and Wi Ha-joon and Lee Jung-Jae, who plays the character Seong Gi-Hun. In the show, a group of 456 people who are all struggling financially are invited to play a life-threatening survival competition where the winner walks away 45.6 billion won.

1. Why is the Show Called Squid Game?
The games that are played in the show are games that Koreans would play when they were young and the title “Squid Game” is derived from a children’s game in Korea in the 1980s where a squid-shaped pattern will be drawn on the ground. Teams are formed and if children are pushed out of the squid circle, they win.
The director revealed that the squid game was the most exciting and favourite game he ever played when he was a child. He also felt that Korean society is pretty similar to the “Squid Game” where people are divided into classes and circles, and that is where competition starts.
