The luxury resort is surrounded by a rainforest that’s 10 million years old

Langkawi, an archipelago of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Malaysia. We were recently invited to stay at the Andaman Resort and left feeling completely rejuvenated and recharged.
Situated between an ancient rainforest and a beach, we couldn’t have asked for a better location. Accommodation-wise, the resort features six different types of rooms which guests can choose from depending on their needs and budget.
We stayed in the Executive Suite, which comes fully equipped with its own private pool and small garden.
There are a total of four dining establishments within the resort to cater to every palette. Located on the first floor of the hotel, Andaman Restaurant overlooks the rainforest pool, and offers an international buffet as well as a à la carte menu.
Set amidst a lush tropical rainforest, Seafront Terrace Restaurant sends forth a slew of delicacies, which you can indulge in while admiring the beauty of the magnificent Andaman Sea. A Malaysian buffet is offered at the restaurant each week, alongside cultural dance performances which diners can watch in between munches of the spread’ traditional Malaysian delights.
Located between the ancient rainforest and the turquoise waters of the Andaman Sea, Jala Restaurant is the newest addition to The Andaman. Here, you can tuck into the freshest seafood.
The Japanese restaurant is located on the first floor of the hotel, with two teppan-ku cooking stations to let guests witness the entire cooking process.
Over at the Phoenix Open Lounge, you’ll get to enjoy performances by the resident band while sipping on wines and cocktails. There’s also a selection of featured cigars.
Happy hour at the beach bar is from 5pm to 6.30pm everyday, of which discounts are offered dependent on the day’s temperature. We visited when it was a nice 26 degrees Celsius, which means drinks were at 26% off!
The hotel hosts a nature walk in the rainforest every week, with one in the early morning at 8am and an evening one at 7pm. Each adventure will take about an hour and a half, so remember to dress comfortably.
The resort hosts a variety of yoga classes every day, and if the weather is favourable, guests can opt for a session under the blue skies and white clouds. Inhale deeply the fresh air around you, soak up the gentle sea breeze, and feel all your troubles drift away.
In February 2010, a coral reef conservation programme was launched by the resort to grow and cultivate corals by constructing a coral garden to help with returning washed-up corals to the sea. Guests can explore the world of the corals with certified coral curators, and can even try their hands at setting up the coral reefs by hand.
The V Botanical Gardens Spa, with its slew of accolades, is nestled amidst the emerald mountains and surrounded by the lush tropical rainforest. The space opens up to beautiful panorama, which left us intoxicated even before our relaxing massage.
