Fiji is the stuff that inspires movies. In fact, the legendary Blue Lagoon (1980) that propelled Brooke Shields to fame was shot at Turtle Island in Fiji. 5. Immerse in local experiences
The Maori have their hangi, a form of underground pressure cooking using volcanic stones, while the Fijians have their lovo which they use to cook meat, fish and vegetables. Besides partaking in a lovo, another cultural activity for tourists is to have a kava experience, which is a drink made from the root of an indigenous plant. It is always consumed during Fijian ceremonies. Most resorts will have a weekly kava ceremony to introduce guests to this traditional Fijian ritual.
