After more than a decade's wait, the ultimate Autumn coffee drink is here
While it's practically summer year-round in Singapore, Autumn is descending determinedly upon our tropical island with the arrival of Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Endearingly referred to as PSL, the coffee drink may have been around for eons, but it has never graced Singapore with its tangerine presence. Instead, most of us have turned to mainstream media in hopes to quell a desire that can be only fulfilled in the west.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte is truly more than just a coffee beverage. Aside from amassing a cult following with a designated Twitter account to boot, the PSL has played a crucial role in the realm of pop culture, where the drink is commonly associated to the hallmarks of becoming a "basic white girl".
Available for a limited time at Starbuck outlets, the Pumpkin Spice Latte (from $7.10) is concocted with Starbucks signature espresso and steamed milk, highlighted by flavor notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, and topped off with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spice. It can be enjoyed hot, served over ice or as a Frappuccino blended beverage.
Also part of the latest offering is the Maple Pecan Latte ($7.10) and sweet pastries such as the Maple Blondie Tart ($6.50), Chocolate Banoffee Tart ($6.50), and Brown Sugar Cinnamon Glazed Doughnut ($4.50).
So celebrate Autumn and embrace your inner...um, basic white girl by taking a swig of this iconic drink! Because in a blink of an eye, Starbucks will be ringing in its line of Christmas drinks.
