6. Black Forest, Germany
Venturing into the Schwarzwald, or Black Forest, is like entering a scene from the fairy tales written by the Brothers Grimm. Home to cultural traditions and perhaps, shy mystical beings, the Black Forest gets its name from the dark and sinister canopy of evergreens that blankets the forest floor. But loom and gloom aside, the area is also known for to be a land of cuckoo clocks and cherry gâteaux, alongside charming towns and ancient castles.
