The small town, just four hours north of the capital Vientiane, offers a variety of thrilling water sports activities along its scenic rivers. Backpackers love tubing or kayaking the Nam Song river, while you can also swim and try zip lining at the Blue Lagoon. For a truly unique experience, explore some of the amazing karst limestone caves, the most famous one being the Tham Chang cave. If you’re feeling daring, Vang Vieng is an excellent place to learn rock climbing, with walls that will excite both first-timers and pros. Need to recharge after the adrenaline rush? Take a walk around the historic temples and lush rice fields.
