Yes to fairy lights and open mics

If you’ve been keeping up with the news, you’ve probably heard that Artbox – the hipster haven (not the cute stationery store) from Thailand – will be making its way to our green city. More details have been released and needless to say, we’re as stoked as bargain-hunters at Chatuchak Market.

The renowned creative pop-up market will be running from 3pm-11pm over two weekends, 14-16 and 21-23 Apr, at the Bayfront Event Space beside Marina Bay Sands.

As for what you can look forward to? Just like in Thailand’s editions, you can expect retail booths with international vendors, gastronomic bites, a beer market and beautiful fairy light installations – all set among shipping containers – for those pretty Instagram pictures.

The event is purported to bring more than 300 international creative entrepreneurs purveying goods such as handcrafted bags, air hammocks and other original wares on each weekend.

Entrance is free for all, which makes it perfect to visit the market on both weekends because the programme and vendors will change.

But that’s not all. The creative market will also bring in a myriad of activities including music performances (we hear there will be both local and Thai acts), open-mic sessions and charity drives.

Other unique “art-ivities” coming to Asia’s first Artbox outside of Thailand include a Chang Beer Garden, free tattoo art by MTV Asia and a charming showcase of vintage cars and Kombi vans.

Back in Thailand, where the original market moves around like a nomad, Artbox is currently located at Chatuchak in Bangkok until 30 Apr.

Artbox Singapore 2017 will run from 14-16 and 21-23 Apr at the Bayfront Event Space. More information at www.artbox.sg.
