2. Kingda ka

We jet off to the land of the free and the home of the brave. Yes, America. Native to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, Kingda Ka is the world’s tallest coaster at 139m. Riders are flung at the start using a hydraulic launch mechanism towards an inverted ‘U’ with speeds reaching 206km/h in 3.5 seconds. The train climbs the main tower before plummeting 127m straight down through a 270-degree right-hand spiral. Immediately after that drop, the coaster climbs another mechanical hill of 40m where riders experience a split second of weightlessness before zooming back to the start point. Being a short ride of only 28 seconds, the long queues move quickly with a rapid turnover of riders. Is that not a reason to ride it more than once?
