Recipe: Grilled Squid with Garlic Chili Oil by Asian Food Channel

Craving calamari? Try out this tasty squid recipe, with garlic and chili for a zing!


Serves 4 people

  • 600 g large squid
    Gutted and cleaned
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 chili padi (Bird’s eye chili)
  • 1 stalk spring onion
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 medium-sized potatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Step 2 – Marinate, steam and grill squid

  • Cut open the squid and lay flat. Using a sharp knife, score the squid.
  • Rub salt and pepper into the squid and steam for 5 minutes.
  • Remove and grill on a pan on high heat, until slightly charred. Set aside.

(Bake, sauté or grill your squid for a healthier option – it’s lower in saturated fat and sodium compared to frying.)
