O’TAH Jewel Changi Airport: Enjoy A Creative Take On Classic Favourites
SHARE WITH FRIENDS!
A brand-new F&B concept by home-grown brand Lee Wee & Brothers, O’TAH puts a fresh & creative spin on the local snack!
Otak-otak, commonly known as otak, is a snack of grilled fish cake many of us have grown up loving. Here at O’TAH, opened by well-known food company Lee Wee & Brothers, otak is given a deliciously modern twist!
For the otak here, minced mackerel is marinated and mixed with a homemade spice paste, and you can choose from four flavours! We especially loved the Pink Salmon Otah (S$2.20/pc, S$26.40/box of 12), which had a huge hunk of salmon embedded within its spicy insides, and the Cream Cheese & Corn Otah (S$2.20/pc, S$26.40/box of 12), which oozed wonderfully when cut into and was a little like an otak version of Korean tteokbokki with cheese!
Don’t shy away from the Petai & Anchovy Otah (S$1.70/pc, S$20.40/box of 12) either – we were originally sceptical about the smell petai is infamous for having, but the otak here had none of the odour, and all of the flavours and texture instead, that melded well with the mackerel paste.
Want something more substantial? Tuck into a hearty plate of Pesto Salmon Nasi Lemak (S$12.90), a fusion version of Lee Wee & Brothers’ best-selling dish – it comes with a slice of mackerel fish otak, coconut rice, an omelette, a potato croquette, anchovies & peanuts, purple cabbage, achar, and sambal chilli. It is also available with Fried Curry Chicken (S$9.90) or Grilled Honey Chicken (S$8.90), if you prefer your nasi lemak a little more traditional.
Or, if you want to dip your toes into the wild side and taste the creative dishes the chefs at O’TAH have come up with, go for the cheekily-named TAH-co (S$9.90): breaded and plain mackerel fish otak are wrapped in warm and crisp tortillas with generous servings of guacamole, salsa, corn and purple cabbage. It’s a dish where you gotta get your hands messy but it’s definitely worth it – the coconutty, spicy flavours of the otak were complemented well by the guacamole and salsa, and the corn made for a refreshing contrast. A delightful fusion of local and Mexican flavours, we couldn’t help chowing down on bite after bite!
If you’re more of a burger person, we recommend Ben’s Burger (S$11.90), a hefty creation of a fried otak patty, tomato, purple cabbage, caramelised onions and a sunny side-up; all sandwiched between wonderfully soft charcoal buns. Served with shoestring fries, this would make for a filling meal!
The Reuben Roll (S$10.90) is something a little lighter than that – the otak version of a lobster roll, if you may – with otak, prawns, and coleslaw and lime mayonnaise, overflowing from a grilled brioche roll, and topped off with zingy lime mayonnaise and moreish anchovy crumbles.
If you’re feeling peckish, or just want more of that spicy otak goodness (we don’t blame you!), go for the O’TAH Fries (S$6.90) – hand-cut wedges of mackerel fish otak served with shoestring fries, and a delightfully addictive lime & herb mayonnaise. Beware: you probably can’t stop at one, because we definitely couldn’t!
With creative and delicious food that can be served both dine-in or take-away, and being open 24-hours; O’TAH is a great place to pop by when you’re visiting Jewel Changi – especially if you’re there for a late-night movie!
