This results in a selection of classic dishes that are comforting with a healthier twist. And lest you think that healthy means bland, the new dishes feature a kaleidoscope of tastes and textures, coupled with nutritional benefits.

For Glowing Skin And Better Blood Circulation

The Bird’s Nest Dumpling in Superior Sauce will give you beautiful, glowing skin.

An astute example is the Bird’s Nest Dumpling in Superior Sauce ($28), a nourishing dumpling packed with a flavourful sauce that’s been brewed for four hours, along with premium ingredients like bird’s nest, scallop, prawn and conpoy (dried scallop). Its delicate skin is hand folded with precision, leaving it with a beautiful finish.

If you love food with health benefits, then the nutritional Wok-fried Beef Fillet with Angelica and Chinese Yam ($32) shouldn’t be missed either.

Wok-fried Beef Fillet with Angelica and Chinese Yam

The thinly sliced beef is tender and juicy, with a pronounced aroma from being cooked with hua diao (Chinese cooking wine). The addition of herbal supplement, angelica sinensis, is said to help nourish the blood, invigorate blood circulation and even strengthens the heart, liver and spleen.

For the quintessential Cantonese dining experience, dim sum shouldn’t be missed. At Wan Hao, must-tries include the Deep-fried Prawn Mango Roll ($5 for two) and Baked Crispy Honey-Glazed Pork Puff ($5 for two).

With every bite, the crisp and flaky skin of the baked char siew pau (barbecue-pork-filled bun) contrasted with sweet and tender bits of honey glazed pork. It was truly delightful.

However, the Deep-fried Prawns in Pumpkin Butter Sauce ($35) was not as moreish. While the prawns were fresh and crunchy, the coating of pumpkin butter sauce was a little cloying.

On the whole, the restaurant’s new menu offerings show a discerning effort in fusing health benefits with its signature Cantonese cuisines. Diners who are on the quest for an exquisite and nourishing meal should definitely add Wan Hao to their checklist.
