If I could dream up my perfect home, it would somehow involve a loft. Some may scoff at its impracticability (who wants to climb stairs just to get to bed?) but I say: Isn’t it delightful to live in a grown-up version of a treehouse? But until I get to fulfill my lofty dreams, checking into Studio M Hotel Singapore is a pretty awesome alternative.

Designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni, each of the 360 rooms feature a mezzanine that separates areas for work and play. Besides its distinctive duplex layout, the rooms also have high glass windows that offer you a beautiful view of the city.

Located along the infamous Mohammed Sultan stretch that once saw the likes of bars like Madame Wong’s, the area has shed its seedy past and transformed into a hipster enclave, with countless good eats and Instagram-worthy cafés to be found.

Whether you choose to party the night away at the newly re-opened Zouk at Clarke Quay, or wind the day down at nearby Wine Connection, it’s a treat to return to a welcoming home base at Studio M.
