With the excitement of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, fans may be wondering where the iconic scenes were filmed - and whether you can actually visit them.

According to travel search engine Skyscanner, travellers are in fact expressing growing interest in visiting the larger-than-life filming locations of the popular Star Wars films. Since the release of the global trailer in April, there has been an increase in searches compared to the same time last year.

Here are four destinations in particular that have piqued the interest of travellers.

3. Maldives: Scarif

Searches for travel to the Maldives has also more than doubled year-on-year, with interest growing by 87 per cent. It could be due to the news that it’s sinking, or it could also be due to the fact that it’s the setting of the secluded tropical planet Scarif.

Scarif (or Maldives) will prove most relevant in Rogue One, as it is the base where the Galactic Empire houses the construction of the first Death Star, which the Rebel Alliance seeks to halt in the upcoming movie. A glimpse of the face-off can be seen in Rogue One movie posters. November is also the best time to visit.
