On January 20, 2015, SilkAir signed a memorandum of understanding to provide a range of support for Child’s Dream Foundation in Chiang Mai.
The Foundation, which was registered 2003 in Switzerland, focuses on helping the Mekong sub-region’s children by building schools, providing medical support, and sponsoring tertiary education.
SilkAir’s Chief Executive, Leslie Thng, reinforced SilkAir’s commitment “to finding ways to give back to society.” Their discussion with Child’s Dream Foundation began 6 months ago, and culminated in the penning of the MOU at today’s event. According to Mr Thng, both companies share similar goals to help the people within the region.
The partnership is for three years with an extension for another three.
SilkAir will be providing support such as tickets for Child’s Dream staff on business trips, free cargo allowance for transportation of donations within SilkAir’s routes. Their support will help Child’s Dream to reduce their operating cost and focus their existing funds on core activities.
Child’s Dream, co-founded by Marc Jenni, is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation which helps underprivileged children in four countries including Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand.
Mr Jenni commented, “Having SilkAir at our side, will help us to keep our administration costs under control…” He went on to remark that SilkAir and Child’s Dream covers similar areas in the region.
This latest partnership is a part of SilkAir’s corporate social responsibility program.
