Forget the theme park this holiday and frame that perfect shot as you indulge in the treats of nature at Jasper National Park
Sprawled across almost three million acres of land, the Jasper National Park offers 615 miles (990km) of hiking trails in the Canadian Rockies, each offering a different expedition through meadows, rivers, mountains and even glaciers.
Home to the sounds of nature (as well as to grizzly bears, moose and elk), the park also allows visitors to tune in to the natural symphony of over 82 species of songbirds.
Intrepid souls looking for more excitement can take up the challenge of a seven-mile white-water rafting journey, riding along the rapids into a deep canyon.
The best time to visit the park would be late summer and early fall, when the air is clearer — an ideal condition for a no-filter Instagram shot.
The main gateways to Jasper National Park are Vancouver, Edmonton or Calgary. From these cities, take either the VIA Rail or Greyhound bus to the park. Brewster Transportation and Tours also offers tour buses to and from Jasper via Banff along the spectacular Icefields Parkway.
