9. Sendai Tanabata Matsuri
As the largest and most famous tanabata (star festival) celebration in Japan, Sendai Tanabata Matsuri feature thousands of colourful streamers that decorate the city’s shopping arcades. Come and see these brightly coloured forests of streamers, which are handcrafted by local shops, schools and community groups, on August 6-8.
