3. Kanda Matsuri

Kanda Matsuri is one of Tokyo’s most famous festivals and it takes place in mid-May during odd numbered years. As a celebration of the people’s wealth and good fortune, the matsuri features a day-long procession through central Tokyo as well as parades of portable mikoshi (shrines) through the various neighborhoods.
