You make your own luxury stay at this modern apartment-style hotel
A while ago, we had the great opportunity to stay at Cassia Bintan for a two day, one night weekend. You just need a quick 50-minute ferry ride to get from Singapore to the island of Bintan and its spread of resorts, so a weekend stay sounded just nice to us. Once we saw the calming beach and the wide list of fun activities, though, we wished we had another day.
Overlooking the expansive South China Sea, the resort offers super chic apartments in one or two bedroom units. The newest hotel under the internationally renowned Banyan Tree Group, just launched in August 2017, Cassia Bintan is designed especially with youths and millennials in mind. It's popular among groups of friends, young couples, and young families.
We immediately felt the youthful vibes once we entered the hotel lobby. Lots of modern yet locally-inspired, colourful murals line the walls from the lobby to the apartment blocks.

On our second day, we had a splendid breakfast, which comes complimentary with your stay, at the Cassia lobby. There were Western options (like cereal, eggs, toast, and donuts) as well as hot local ones (like fried noodles and rice porridge). Our stomachs happy, we were off to spend the day at the golf course!
A highlight of the Banyan Tree Group resorts at Bintan is Laguna Golf Bintan, a beautiful award-winning 18-hole, par 72 golf course. Lots of amateur golfers from the region and abroad flock to Laguna Golf Bintan for the natural rock formations and hill slopes that challenge your game, as you take in the spectacular views. The golf green stretches out across all three resorts, bordered by the sea such that the signature hole is next to the rocks and waves, pictured above.
During our stay, the Cassia Cup golf tournament was going on. Golfing legend Sir Nick Faldo was there putting on (pun intended) a golf clinic for all of us, sharing great tricks to improve basic techniques, and answering many questions from aspiring golfers.
